Heating Installation Services: The Right System for Your Home. Installed Right.
Replacing or upgrading your heating system in Colorado in 2026 is a more significant decision than it used to be. New state laws have changed what gas furnaces can be installed and at what efficiency levels. Heat pump technology has advanced to the point where it is now a genuinely viable and financially attractive option for many Denver metro homes. Ductless mini split systems are also becoming the right solution for spaces traditional heating systems cannot effectively reach.
Power Electrical, Heating & Cooling Services installs all three: gas furnaces, heat pumps, and ductless mini splits for homeowners across the Denver metro area. We help you understand your options honestly and install the system that best fits your home, budget, and comfort goals.
Important: Colorado's Heating Installation Laws Changed in 2026
If you're considering a gas furnace replacement, there are two important things you need to understand before making a decision.
January 1, 2026 — HB23-1161
Standard 80% AFUE gas furnaces can no longer be installed in Colorado. All new gas furnaces must meet Ultra-Low NOx emission standards, effectively making 95%+ AFUE high-efficiency systems the new baseline. Equipment costs have increased significantly as a result.
July 31, 2026 — ENERGY STAR 5.0
The minimum AFUE requirement for northern Colorado, including the entire Denver metro area, rises again to 97%. Any furnace installed after this date must meet the updated standard.
These law changes also make heat pumps more financially competitive than ever because heat pumps are not affected by the new gas furnace regulations and currently qualify for federal tax credits and utility rebates that gas furnaces do not.
We explain both laws clearly to every homeowner before discussing equipment or pricing.

Why Colorado's 2026 Law Changes Make This Decision More Important Than Ever
The combination of Colorado's new furnace efficiency mandates and the strong incentive landscape for heat pumps means heating system replacement decisions in 2026 deserve more careful consideration than they did just a few years ago.
A homeowner replacing a failing furnace with a compliant gas system today is making a very different financial decision than someone replacing the same system two years ago because baseline equipment costs have increased significantly.
At the same time, homeowners replacing older systems with heat pumps and taking advantage of available federal tax credits and utility rebates may find the net cost comparison has shifted substantially.
We stay current on Colorado's evolving heating regulations and incentive programs so we can provide accurate, up-to-date information on every option, not just the systems we happen to stock.

Heating Systems We Install
Choose your system below for complete installation information.
Gas furnaces remain the most common heating system in Denver metro homes and are the systems most affected by Colorado's new 2026 regulations.
We install Ultra-Low NOx compliant high-efficiency gas furnaces that meet both the current January 2026 standard and the upcoming July 2026 97% AFUE requirement.
We remain brand-flexible, working with multiple leading manufacturers including American Standard, Goodman, Amana, and Amerastar.
Best for:
• Homes primarily heated with natural gas
• Homeowners wanting the most straightforward heating replacement
• Situations where a heat pump is not the right fit
Key consideration: Colorado's new furnace laws have increased replacement costs, making it essential to understand current requirements before purchasing a system.

A heat pump provides both heating and cooling from a single system, with efficiency levels that dramatically outperform traditional gas and electric heating systems.
Modern cold-climate heat pumps operate reliably throughout Colorado winters. Federal tax credits of up to 30% and Xcel Energy rebates make the investment more financially attractive than ever.
We install American Standard heat pump systems in standard, cold-climate, and dual-fuel configurations.
Best for:
• Homeowners replacing both an AC system and furnace at the same time
• Homes looking to reduce natural gas dependency
• Homeowners wanting to maximize available federal and utility incentives
• Dual-fuel configurations combining heat pump efficiency with gas backup during extreme cold
Key consideration: Heat pumps currently qualify for significant incentives that gas furnaces do not, making the financial comparison much more favorable than it used to be.

Ductless mini splits provide targeted heating and cooling to specific spaces without requiring ductwork.
Single-zone and multi-zone configurations are available, making mini splits a practical solution for garages, additions, basements, older homes without ductwork, and spaces your central system cannot heat or cool effectively.
Best for:
• Spaces without existing ductwork
• Home additions, garage conversions, and basement finishes
• Older homes where adding ductwork is not practical
• Rooms that are consistently too hot or too cold
• Whole-home comfort in houses without existing central HVAC
Key consideration: Mini splits provide both heating and cooling, and Colorado winters remain within the operating range of quality ductless systems.

Joey came out and did a fantastic job looking over and cleaning my system for the winter. I had someone come out earlier in the year, but it felt more like he was trying to get me to buy a new system than help with my existing. Joey looked over the system, gave a few small but very helpful suggestions, and cleaned it. Could not recommend these folks enough.

I had purchased an oven and needed an outlet swap as soon as possible. Lance came out right at the beginning of the service window, was very thorough during the estimate procedure and was extremely knowledgeable and answered a lot of questions I had about my circumstance. Couldn't be happier with the communication and service performed. I will definitely utilize this company again in the future.

Just moved into our new (2000 build) house and Joey came out to do winter maintenance on our furnace. This company was recommended from the former owner. Joey was professional, polite and very helpful - showing me how to change the furnace filter and the humidifier pad. He cleaned out the furnace, inspected the system, (which is newer) and told me everything was in good shape – didn’t try to sell me anything extra. I like them and will use them again.
