Heating Installation Services: The Right System for Your Home. Installed Right.

Replacing or upgrading your heating system in Colorado in 2026 is a more significant decision than it used to be. New state laws have changed what gas furnaces can be installed and at what efficiency levels. Heat pump technology has advanced to the point where it is now a genuinely viable and financially attractive option for many Denver metro homes. Ductless mini split systems are also becoming the right solution for spaces traditional heating systems cannot effectively reach.

Power Electrical, Heating & Cooling Services installs all three: gas furnaces, heat pumps, and ductless mini splits for homeowners across the Denver metro area. We help you understand your options honestly and install the system that best fits your home, budget, and comfort goals.

Important: Colorado's Heating Installation Laws Changed in 2026 in Columbine

If you're considering a gas furnace replacement, there are two important things you need to understand before making a decision.

January 1, 2026 — HB23-1161

Standard 80% AFUE gas furnaces can no longer be installed in Colorado. All new gas furnaces must meet Ultra-Low NOx emission standards, effectively making 95%+ AFUE high-efficiency systems the new baseline. Equipment costs have increased significantly as a result.

July 31, 2026 — ENERGY STAR 5.0

The minimum AFUE requirement for northern Colorado, including the entire Denver metro area, rises again to 97%. Any furnace installed after this date must meet the updated standard.

These law changes also make heat pumps more financially competitive than ever because heat pumps are not affected by the new gas furnace regulations and currently qualify for federal tax credits and utility rebates that gas furnaces do not.

We explain both laws clearly to every homeowner before discussing equipment or pricing.

Why Colorado's 2026 Law Changes Make This Decision More Important Than Ever

The combination of Colorado's new furnace efficiency mandates and the strong incentive landscape for heat pumps means heating system replacement decisions in 2026 deserve more careful consideration than they did just a few years ago.

A homeowner replacing a failing furnace with a compliant gas system today is making a very different financial decision than someone replacing the same system two years ago because baseline equipment costs have increased significantly.

At the same time, homeowners replacing older systems with heat pumps and taking advantage of available federal tax credits and utility rebates may find the net cost comparison has shifted substantially.

We stay current on Colorado's evolving heating regulations and incentive programs so we can provide accurate, up-to-date information on every option, not just the systems we happen to stock.
